Click on above links to get the low down on each family branch. Each page is a compilation of data from several sources.
1. The “Burress” line stops somewhere about 1700, somewhere in Virginia. The name is a derivative of Boroughs. This appears to be all correct. Need to update “the rest of the story”.
2. The “Box” line is a bit more iffy. You need to make the connection that you are related to a “Marmaduke R. Box”. The good news is that there is only one listing for a Marmaduke, so it is not as if you have to choose. If you can make the connection, you are off to the races, for a while. On down the road it appears there is a problem with the data. But I think the story line still holds true (reference Oprah and book “A Million Little Pieces).
3. My genealogical experience is measured in days. I have now looked up the Read, Pool, Larson, Burress, & Box family lines. I find it AMAZING (notice amazing was in all caps and in bold)…how closely, almost identical, the story lines of all three (Read, Pool, Box) story line goes.
All three family lines started in Virginia,. The Read / Box clan can be pinned down to the same county – Isle of Wight, VA (click to see map) during the exact same years. How big could the population of Isle of Wight, VA have been in the early 1600’s ????
Further amazing, both Read / Box emigrated from the same county of Kent, England within years of each other. I can trace Peter Read back to 1635 in Kent, England. Peter’s dad would have had to known John Box I who was born in 1599 Kent, England. (click to see map of Kent county, England in 1590)
All three family lines started in VA, moved to NC, (Box did a short stint in SC), then moved to MS, and then onto TX. All of the moves are roughly about the same time.
If you see a blue head next to a name,
, it means they have descendants.
